چکیده

Signal-Perturbation-Free Semi-Blind Channel Estimation forMIMO-OFDM Systems Feng Wan, Ph.D.Concordia University, 2009 Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) has been considered as a strong candidate for the beyond 3G (B3G) wirelesscommunication systems, due to its high data-rate wireless transmission performance. It is well known that the advantages promised by MIMO-OFDM systems rely on theprecise knowledge of the channel state information (CSI). In real wireless environ-ments, however, the channel condition is unknown. Therefore, channel estimation isof crucial importance in MIMO-OFDM systems.Semi-blind channel estimation as a combination of the training-based or pilot-assisted method and the pure blind approach is considered to be a feasible solutionfor practical wireless systems due to its better estimation accuracy as well as spec-tral efficiency. In this thesis, we address the semi-blind channel estimation issue ofMIMO-OFDM systems with an objective to develop very efficient channel estimationapproaches. In the first part of the dissertation, several nulling-based semi-blind approachesare presented for the estimation of time-domain MIMO-OFDM channels. By incor-porating a blind constraint that is derived from MIMO linear prediction (LP) into a

Semi-blind Channel Estimation and Iterative Detection for MIMO-OFDM Systems

The combination of MIMO and OFDM techniques has been recently explored for providing high speed data communication over fading dispersive channels. Bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM) architecture with iterative detection and decoding techniques (IDD) at the receiver has been found to attain good performance (close to Turbo MIMO) with moderate complexity. The scheme however relies on the av...

A Survey on Channel Estimation for OFDM-IDMA Receivers Systems

In this paper, various channel estimation techniques for iterative receivers are compared for OFDMIDMA system. Pilot –assisted based, semi-blind estimation, blind estimation and Decision –directed channel estimations techniques are considered and there comparisons are presented. The considered estimation techniques differ in terms of complexity, as well as performance. The main contribution of ...

Channel Estimation in Massive MIMO Systems

We introduce novel blind and semi-blind channel estimation methods for cellular time-division duplexing systems with a large number of antennas at each base station. The methods are based on the maximum a-posteriori principle given a prior for the distribution of the channel vectors and the received signals from the uplink training and data phases. Contrary to the state-of-the-art massive MIMO ...

Semi-Blind Channel Estimation based on subspace modeling for Multi-user Massive MIMO system

‎Channel estimation is an essential task to fully exploit the advantages of the massive MIMO systems‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we propose a semi-blind downlink channel estimation method for massive MIMO system‎. ‎We suggest a new modeling for the channel matrix subspace. Based on the low-rankness property, we have prposed an algorithm to estimate the channel matrix subspace. In the next step, using o...

Joint channel estimation / data detection in MIMO-FBMC/OQAM systems - A tensor-based approach

Filter bank-based multicarrier (FBMC) systems are currently being considered as a prevalent candidate for replacing the long established cyclic prefix (CP)-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) in the physical layer of next generation communications systems. In particular, FBMC/OQAM has received increasing attention due to, among other features, its potential for maximum sp...
